Mars qui rit malgré les averses
prépare en secret le printemps.
(Théophile Gautier)

Daffodils in the rain
seem to bow to Fate,
but tomorrow the Sun
will raise them up.

The old cypress has offered
a shelter to the tiny wrens.
Strong trees laugh at storms,
and treasure fragile lives.

March is a man of his word:
Every cloud has a silver lining.
That’s the Promise of Spring
and that’s so very true!

If I had only one year left to live
I would thank Spring
for bluebells woods and rainbows,
seen and unseen.

I would tell Summer
it means the world to me.
In Fall, I would plant a tree
under the silent stars.

Leaf on the wind,
I would ask Winter
to give me for Christmas
only one Night more,

and like a child
enthralled by the Lights
I would write in the snow
love letters with many forevers.
